When
Barnivàle begins with dinner, the evening of Friday, Sept 11th and concludes Monday, Sept 14th with a closing brunch. Participants are welcome to arrive earlier on Friday to setup camp. You can also extend your camping to stay longer with prior arrangement!
Food & Accommodation
The venue for Barnivàle is Elkenmist, a working farm and garden with pasture-raised sheep, fresh veggies and fruit. Event meals will feature food grown and raised on the land, while accommodating dietary ranges from vegan to meat-loving. A welcome dinner will be served on Sept 11, and a departure brunch on Sept 14. Three meals will be prepared in the days between. If you have further dietary needs, let us know when you register and we'll do our best to accommodate.
We will make camp together! Participants can help prepare a meal and/or clean up afterwards.
Participants staying on-site will camp in our spacious campground. We have plenty of shaded sites, and September is a beautiful time of year here. Our campground has potable water, non-flush toilets, phone charging stations, Wi-Fi areas, a hot shower, creek access and a wood-fired sauna.
Contact Sara at Elkenmist (elkenmist@gmail.com) if you have any questions or want any help planning your accommodations!
Where
On the lands of Elkenmist, 90 minutes northwest of Portland, Oregon in Skamokawa, WA 98647, United States (Map). Venue address will be shared with registered participants.
The nearest international airport is Portland (PDX). The nearest Amtrak is Kelso, WA, and is 45min drive from the venue. There is no Uber, no Lyft, and we don't know any taxi drivers. You basically need a car to get here. We will help by coordinating a ride share doc and organizing a shuttle if requested!
Kids
Kids can come to Barnivàle and, if under 13 years old, do not need to pay the standard ticket price! All children MUST be accompanied by a ticketed adult, and Barnivàle will not offer any dedicated spaces for children nor any organized childcare. If you are a family that wants to attend Barnivàle but find it financially inaccessible, please contact us for an adjusted ticket price.
Dogs & Other Animals
The dog policy for our venue is "NO DOGS". It's because there are many animals that already live on the land, and for the safety and sanity of everyone, it is necessary to limit the additional animals that attend Barnivàle. With that said, Barnivàle 2025 would not have been the same without Lacey the Chicken. So, please write to us if you have a specific request.
More information!?
If all of this has not been enough for you, continue reading on our FAQ page but then please for the love of barns, come back and buy a ticket!
